Hi ladies! How are we all? Sorry for the lack of posting – I’ve started a new internship in London & have been a busy bee! However, I was lucky enough to be invited by the lovely YINKA to a Benefit event on Tuesday. It was set up to highlight Benefit’s products to women of colour.
The event consisted of mingling/meeting the bloggers, a short demonstration & then time to play around with their products & chat to the Benefit team. I had to get most of these photos off of bloggers, as mine made the make-up artist look really funny – she kept moving & didn’t manage to get any good pictures of the demonstration.

The MUA started off by tinting & waxing the model, Sharon’s, brows. If you know me, I have a thing for brows & LOVED this part! I was surprised to see just how quickly it was done to be quite honest.

I learnt a lot of new things about Benefit as a brand. Like the 2 ladies that created benefit flipped a coin to start a company. Heads it was a caserole company & tails it was to be a make-up company – thank God for us it landed on tails! LOL. Posie Tint was actually first used as a nipple stain(!) & that the company first started off with products being made in a basement – that scared me a little! A tip I learnt was that applying foundation with a brush is the most efficient way, as you can tell from the picture above. It give you a better & even coverage compared to your fingers & using a sponge! So, I no longer need a beauty blender in my life

We also got to see their brand new product, ‘Finding Mr. Bright’, which is launching VERY soon! It was quite nice to get a few sneak peaks like this. They are also bringing out a SKIN CARE range which I’m sure will be one to look out for along with a brand new FOUNDATION range with about 20 different shades!! I ALWAYS associate Benefit as a brand with FEW selections (especially in colour ranges for skin products). As a whole they’re products as a whole are fairly good & pigmented (e.g. their amazing blushes) – but expensive.

Here was the final result of the demonstration. To be completely honest with you, my views on Benefit being not the best place for a coloured woman to go in terms of foundation has NOT changed. However, personally I love their tinted moisturisers & am fair skinned so it doesn’t bother me that much. But, for some of my friends & family – this WOULDN’T be a brand I would recommend for a good foundation due to their lack of variety. Well, this view may change once they bring their new foundation range out, but we’ll just have to wait & see
Overall the event was good. I got to meet some lovely bloggers!! These include ROSHNI, SRIYA, AMINA, TASS, ZARA, YINKA, STEPHANIE, GULNIT & WANDE! Really sorry if I missed anyone out!! I had to get going once the demo was over as I had to trek it back home so unfortunately didn’t get a chance to swatch, get a group picture or anything pictures with them
We were all sent home with a little goodie bag. Mine didn’t even have the full sized product in it (& I can say the same for some other bloggers too) which I wasn’t expecting at all from a brand like Benefit. But the lovely Jasmine sent one my way along with some little testers the other day, which was SUPER nice of her

P.S – I’d like to say a BIG thank you to Yinka for organising the event alongside the Benefit team
Also, I’d LOVE to know your view on Benefit? What do you think of the brand & their products? Do you like their packaging & their style of selling products to you?

Aww Kaushal it was lovely meeting you! You are sooo gorgeous and so friendly! I didn’t feel shy around you (like I do around most people!). It was a great event! I liked the goody bag and I can’t wait to try the cream eyeshadow!
I loved the new blusher Bella Bamba – it’s a bit too pricey for me though! I’m so glad that Benefit are bringing out 20 new shades next year! Finally lol!
Awww you too Roshni
The cream eye shaddow is amazing – doesn’t budge much! I like to wear it blended out by itself
Ahh, I’m so with you on Bella Bamba… But I’m stuck between that and Nars’s Orgasm!? LOL Hopefully see you soon xx
It was lovely to meet you too!
xx
You too my lovely! xx
Looks like you had a fab time! I totally agree, this brand is not made with ethnic skin colours in mind, so wouldn’t buy many of their products! x
Hopefully their foundation range will cater to the entire market rather than just a select few! Lol x
Love it
Thanks my lovely xx
Aww it looked like a load of fun, shame I didn’t know about it!
Ive tried Bella Bamba at work n I have to say I looove it, but I agree with Roshni, its a tad too expensive.. Even with staff discount! I find myself broke a lot these days :S
Anyways it’s good to see Benefit are catering for people with colour, that’s the main thing I’ve always been put off by; their mainly white/pink based makeup, but it’s great to know this now! =D
<3
It is definitely a gorgeous colour but totally true about the price! The packaging is cardboard as well that why I’d rather spend the money on Nars lol. I know, I can’t wait to see what their new foundation range will look like! x
its was great to briefly meet you, your just soooooo adorable. cant wait to meet you again *counts down the days*

Aww thanks hun!! You too xx
I think it’s great that Benefit organised an event like this and I hope more brands follow. I can imagine it’s difficult on the high street to find products for different skin tones, so it’s fab that they’ve taken the time to identify the huge market of women of colour and how they need fab products too. Hi-5 to Benefit.

Definitely a pat on the back to Benefit. Personally I think they should have waited for their new range of foundations to come out for this event as I still not think it’s perfect for all skin tones (compared to brands like MAC lol) x
omggg i love love love this!!! at first i was looking at the photo of the mirror like huh? but once i read it it all made sense….sounds like a fabulous event xxx
LOL you’re too funny Summer!! x
You totally need to tweet them & go crazy! Lol I was seriously so shocked that a few people didn’t get it! x
